Cyberbully PSA

Cyber- a combining form meaning computer, computer network, or virtual reality. Bully- overbearing person who habitually badgers and intimidates smaller or weaker people. Cyberbullying is when people use computer networks or virtual reality to intimidate or harm people.
Cyberbullying comes in two forms, direct attacks and proxy. A direct attack is when messages are sent to the person getting bullied. Here are some direct attacks:
  • Instant Messaging
  • Stealing Passwords
  • Harassment
  • Sending Pictures
Proxy is when the bully gets someone else to do their dirty work.
There are many ways to prevent cyberbullying such as putting your social media sites on private. You should set your account on private because you never know who could be viewing your account. Also if it has already started by telling a trusted adult or friend about the situation. By telling a trusted adult you could get help with the bullying or have them try to prevent the issue. If you are being bullied: Stop- Don't do anything. Block- limit all communications to those on friends list. Tell- tell a trusted adult.
I think that cyberbullying is wrong because bullies try to make other people feel bad to make there selves feel better. Also I think that cyberbullying is wrong because it's all over the Internet and it makes people feel embarrassed. Many people commit suicide because of cyberbullying.
The school should have a bullying club. They should have all the people who are being bullied or feel worried about being bullied should come together and talk about everything. Also they should talk to us more about bullying and why its wrong and what's the outcomes of it going to far.
